Players, coaching staff and match officials were hastily and removed from the stadium. Steve Komphela quit his role as head coach with immediate effect after the match.

Briefly.co.zagathered that Kaizer Chiefs management had decided that it was time to return to what has become the premier stadium in the country.

Kickoff.co.za reported that Durban fans will be granted the opportunity to prove the events of that April evening were a once-off incident when the Glamour Boys return on Saturday 6 October. The match has been scheduled for an 18:00 start.

Meanwhile, fans have raised their eyebrows at the PSL’s decision to host this year’s MTN8 final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. The move means the same two teams will battle it out for the MTN8 trophy at the same venue.

Sport24.com reported that the PSL said Durban was chosen because it provided a neutral venue for both Cape Town City and SuperSport United, the location is popular among fans and it would give the marketing team the chance to advertise the match as round two of an ongoing grudge match between the sides.

Moses Mabhida Stadium has quickly become a cup final favourite. The facility has hosted nearly 45% of all cup finals since its construction. The stadium has also hosted Bafana Bafana a total of 16 times out of a possible 55.
