However, in Peugeot, when they sent their compact on facelift, they reasoned differently. Outwardly, the result is expressed in the wide open mouth of huge, highly oblique headlamps and altered rear lights graphics. Other changes are not so noticeable, as they relate to improved body quality, recycled equipment lists and engines. So, the two-liter unit capacity of 140 hp. replaces the previously proposed 136-horsepower, and the innovation in the line is a 2-liter version of 180 hp, which previously met only in 307 SS. With him, the “Frenchman” is full of strength and energy, which was previously lacking in the 307th. However, together with a not-too-tight undercarriage, the 180-strongman is not set to revolt, but offers a casually-fast driving style. It’s a pity that the Platinum package, which includes this engine, is not yet available for Ukrainian buyers.
But the 140-strong aluminum unit with variable intake phases seriously takes up the matter at lower than before rpm (92% of the maximum torque can be obtained at 2500 rpm). Therefore, if for fast driving he needs to strain himself, now he does not advertise this - the engine has become more restrained about a part of noise and appetite.Less acoustic anxiety brings and added to the comfort of the suspension. But a somewhat unusual posture behind the wheel still requires careful fit of the seat, since the location of the pedals has not changed.
Traditionally, Peugeot is a bit more expensive than its Citroen and Renault compatriots, but cheaper than German and Spanish cars. The most expensive 2-liter 307th with a manual transmission and five doors will cost € 22,300. A few more useful options will be needed to match a rejuvenated “lion”.
